I concur.

Sadly, some people get frustrated for not being able to progress beyond a certain threshold. It's not the slowest people who become cheater, it's those frustrated just-above-averages who resort to such cheap tricks.

Jeandid should improve the anti-cheating system. Maybe add some typing ...

I take this opportunity to make an announcement: the odds are currently against my constant participation in next year's tournament. In plain English: I don't think I will be able to play seriously next year. Reasons are many: lack of time, bad logistics (QWERTY are scarce on French soil ...

Let aside the fact that many people prefer short texts, my idea has yet another drawback: the resulting figures are plain UGLY :?
Let's see an example using the current pointing system:

October 2010 : length10 = 109 chars.
score10 ...

Here's my suggestion for a new formula: (say "thanks", Mr Wrona !)

For each player:

Month 1 :
The chosen text has length1 (number of characters)
score1 = (score1_based_on_speed) x length1
.....
Month 12 :
The chosen text has length12 (number of characters)
score12 = (score12_based_on_speed ...

I've nothing short of praise for Jelani and Daniel, but I don't think they could've matched your performance this time. A question still looms in my mind, however: how many errors did you make?

Indeed, I use the same style as Damien, as probably many others do. It seems to be the most proficient (it puts little stress on each finger, and if you have big palms + good elasticity, then it's very easy to hit "backspace" with your small right finger, while keeping the others still).

Sometimes I watch the keyboard, sometimes I watch the text, sometimes I keep my eyes shut but my records were done while looking at the text...
