Try it and tell us how do u do :) (score, errors...)
Ok, these are the results from my first attempt:

Errors: 8, CPM: 726.2, Score: 6862, %errors: 0.11

You can see a screenshot here: http://web.mit.edu/minilek/www/10mins.png.

So, I guess I have some practicing to do before I have a shot at winning intersteno. Stupidly, one of my errors was that my eyes completely missed some line, so I didn't type a whole line of text. I did that twice..the second time I noticed (after typing another line), so I backspaced pretty far back to fix it.
726 is still incredible! You do realize that if you had done that score at the 2008 Intersteno competition, with 3 less mistakes, you would have finished 2nd? Pretty decent in my opinion :)

Wow !
Unbelievable.

Super, guy! If u improve ur accuracy and, why not, ur speed, u can easily defy Czechs and Turkishs! Damn them :)
Moreover, it's ur first attempt... WOW
U imagine ? With training, u can do 800 CPM...

I'm glad for you :) and I'm glad tout court, because the Czechs, who believe they are invincible, we'll smoke them :) Oups, u'll smoke them... Haha! Like Dan who smoked them last year.

But don't overlook the stress!
Anyway, I am sure that u're incredibly strong mentally... and that stress can't disturb u as it reached us.

Thanks for the welcome. I don't know if I will try the English text again any time soon. To play the game I would have to reboot into Windows to play, and I usually like to leave my computer booted into Linux (which is what I primarily use). I tried running the program in Linux via wine, but I couldn't get it to work. If there's ever a Linux version, or a multiplatform version (e.g. in Java, or browser-based), then I'll try.

I decided to try once more, this time being very careful to fix typos: http://web.mit.edu/minilek/www/10mins.png

Errors: 3, CPM: 721.5, Score: 7065. Two of the errors I'm very confused about though...can this training site put double spaces sometimes? The places where it says things are missing (in fact, 2 places) were both in the very last sentence, and I don't remember seeing anything in those locations.

Excellent!

And yes there can be mistakes in the practice texts, as seems to be the case here. That means you really did 721.5 cpm with only one mistake, for a total of 7165 points, which would have put you in second place in the 2008 competition! :)
