Championship 2025 - Mathematics

Post by jeandid »

So, on this month of July 2025, the Master reached a crazy level.

With Michael & Andrea scoring above 200, I can't believe it :)
By the way, I would be curious about seeing your hands typing at that speed.

Well, the championship is in a critical state.
Looks like I can't catch up easily Francisco, he's slightly better than I am. (but I will still try ;-))

If he manages well, Francisco can still be the champion.
But if Michael, Andrea, or Andrei enters seriously in the race, they can also be champion.

As for now, all these 4 people can be champion!

Let's analyze this.

1) Francisco TANPIENGCO : a good typist, participates every month, and is #1 at the moment (417 points)
2) Andrei CRISTESCU : a very good typist, but missed some Masters, and is #2 with (350 points)
3) Andrea AKHLAGHI FARSI : a legend (won 5 championships), missed some Masters and is #3 (248 points)
4) Michael DEROCHE : absolute monster with 251.40 wpm, newcomer as for 2025, and is #4 (100 points)

Now you get the point.
We have these 4 people.

The ranking in the championship is currently :
Francisco → Andrei → Andrea → Michael

But concerning raw speed, as we saw on this Master, we have:
Michael → Andrea → Andrei → Francisco

So, this is reverse.
With that being said, and with the point calculation system of the Masters, everything is possible.

Obviously, Andrea and Andrei can become champion, if they don't miss a Master and if they are successful.
And Francisco can stay champion, if he does his best to keep his advance. He's still good enough to be in control!

But... the most difficult question is...
Can Michael become Typing Zone's 2025 champion ?

Well, he has 100 points, 317 points behind Francisco.
And 5 Masters are remaining, so he needs to score 63 or 64 points more than Francisco for each Master.

I've made a calculation, and it means that if Michael scores 160 wpm on a long text, Francisco needs to score 126 wpm in order to get 36 points and keep his crown

I guess that Francisco will be able to score enough points on medium/long Masters... but one short Master is remaining (October) and Michael can also make another incredible record... who knows.

So I think everything is possible at this stage, everyone can be champion...

Good luck all 4 !

For reference, here is a chart showing how many points you earn based on your typing speed, assuming the top scorer achieved 160 WPM:

Hello!

I am probably going to miss this year's September master, because I leave on vacation between 21 - 29 of that month.

Anyway, I put in a lot of effort this July, to reach my 180 wpm score. I don't think I can replicate the same level of effort in the next months.

If Michael keeps showing up and doesn't miss a round, he can surely become champion. Otherwise, Andrea is bound to win (again).

One last thing: this November I will celebrate 20 years since I joined https://typingzone.com. It's been an awesome ride! I will soon be 42 years old and my speed has dropped, it's the natural way of life.

Thank you, Jean-Didier, for creating and maintaining this website, I've had a lot of fun here throughout the years!
