'All right,' said the Cat, and this time it vanished quite slowly, beginning with the end of the tail, and ending with the grin, which remained some time after the rest of it had gone.

I decided to log back into Windows again. Sorry. : ) Someone on this forum asked me, maybe through IM, what I think my limit is...based on this trial, I think it is physically possible for me to hit high 160s. I got this current high score in 3 tries once I booted into Windows, and on the 1st try I was hovering around 167 until I goofed near the end. Though, I think today is an unusually good day. I also broke both my English words and sentences high scores on TyperA today as well.

Hm...right after I posted that last post, I tried the English text one more time and broke my record immediately on the first try. From 158.53wpm to 158.67wpm.

From 158.53wpm to 158.67wpm.
I've made some calculations:

On this text, an average speed of 158.53 wpm represents about 6.497sec of typing.
With a speed of 158.67 wpm, it means you typed for 6.491sec.

See? You reads depressed when you say you broke your best speed after the end of the contest, but in fact it was only 0.006 sec better ...

Interesting, no? If you'd done "only" 158.52, you'd said you are worthless!
:)

Wow! I think your first place is secured now!!!

I raced you the other day on typeracer... needless to say your 175 was enough to beat me, lol :) You do realize that your 158 here would be 190 on typeracer? That's just incredible!

But I have to say I'm a bit disappointed by your 4th place in the january master, even though 174 was already lightyears ahead of me. You think you could have done over 185, maybe 190?

Needless to say I expect nothing else than 1st place from you in the coming masters :P

No offense but your maths are wayyyyyyyyyyy wrong :)

If the text is 456 characters long, and considering 158.53 and 158.67 wpm are respectively 951.18 and 952.02 cpm on typingzone, that means he typed the text in 28.764 and 28.739 s, for a difference of 0.025 s between both tries.

Hey Daniel. I'm thinking of getting that Unicomp keyboard you suggested. Do you know what the difference is between the Customizer and the SpaceSaver? I know the SpaceSaver is smaller, but do you know whether the keys are smaller, or is it saving space in some other way (like getting rid of the numpad)?

Believe me I have no motivation to be faster than Jelani. That would be impossible when he is basically the fastest English typist in the world as far as anyone knows (at least 60-70 cpm faster than me on average).

As for the SpaceSaver keyboard, according to the web site the keys are not smaller, nor is the numeric keypad removed. I believe that space is saved by removing more of the plastic frame on the keyboard. The Unicomp Customizer is quite a beast of a keyboard in terms of its size. The SpaceSaver is probably more "normal" of a keyboard size in comparison to modern designs.
