I would guess the English test is harder, because I'm #1 on French and #2 on English. On the other hand, Andrei would probably say the other way around for the same reason. 90% of the time when I'm attempting for records I make really stupid typos. Even on the first word, I type "Creating" as "Cerating" all the time. I also frequently type "destorying", "ksyscraper", and "hteory". When I make one typo I'm done. I am not shocked that Andrei got 163 wpm. I'm sure I could do it...I haven't yet since he did that, though. I am rather shocked that Andrei got 163 and made a typo, though. When you type that fast and you've made a typo, you've likely made a string of typos like I do. When I type "Cerating" I can't just stop myself after the e and backspace. If I start doing that stuff, I'd slow by 10-20 wpm. In other words, past a certain speed, it's hard to make one typo...you tend to mistype the entire word, which is why I think it's amazing Andrei managed to do that with a typo. I think I can beat that score, but not with a typo. He was awesome.
I didn't know about any typing contests until around 2007 when one of my high school friends on Facebook had that and it showed up on my MiniFeed, I guess. Then random people started e-mailing me because of my speeds on the Typing Speed game, including Zoran, who introduced me to several others...

I don't see what's funny about being smart and clever; it seems like nearly all the super-typists here are exceptionally high IQ wise (I mean four Ivy Leaguers in the final six last weekend, and Jack Aviado is clearly smart enough too...and that's not even counting Jelani and Eric.)

So with 7k you would have come in 2nd out of 1200 participants, behind Hais Petr who got 745 cpm and 5 errors for 7200 points, and right above our own Motsak (Karen Koulakian) who did 710 cpm and 3 errors for 6950 points.
Of course, you have the potential to win this contest, but you'd have to lower your mistakes even more. Ideally you want to make < 10 mistakes. Karen would say < 5, but at 800 cpm I think you're excused if you do a bit more.

I could contend to score the highest on the English test, but definitely not the others since I have an English keyboard that is not exactly suitable to accent marks. I assume Dan won because he actually has all the accent marks memorized for each language. I only have some of them memorized...

There are two contests: multilingual and mother tongue. Not only could you have the top English score, but you could win the mother tongue contest.
As for Dan, he won multilingual by building a specific keyboard layout for each language with the help of Microsoft Layout Keyboard Creator. Of course it required quite a bit of adaptability on his part to get used to the different layouts he created.

I don't really have a technique, or at least nothing I could explain... I've just been typing since I was three or four years old, had a DOS touch-typing program that I used excessively before I was even in grade school, first hit 100 wpm when I was 9 or 10 years old or something...
My one flaw as far as I know of with regard to correct technique is that I type l's wrong...I supposedly use the wrong finger but it works for me. But I'm not sure I could really explain my style...

Anyway, my first contact with a computer came when I was 14, but it wasn't MY computer, but a friend's. I had to wait until graduation, for my dad to dare buy me one
he was so old school, I mean, he kept tellin me I didn't need one as long as it wasn't included in the curriculum (although I mostly had mathematics & physics related courses, the synopsis was old fashioned and lab classes were sooo dull and useless.... ) so anyway, to cut a long story short, I didn't OWN a PC until I was fckin 18 yrs old, man 
it's gonna haunt me for the rest of my life, what if ... u know what I mean ? what if I had started typing .. why not, as an infant, or at least in primary school.
But your confessing thereupon puts my heart at rest a little bit, because I tell myself if this dude can't do more, and this dude's the real deal out there, it basically means I'm pretty close too, I'm holding my own pretty well....
