Typing Zone awakens, the forum returns!

Dear members,

Good news: there's finally something new happening on Typing Zone!

After a few years of neglect, the site started accumulating quite a few technical issues due to changes in hosting and technology (database upgrades, PHP version updates, etc.).
As a result, we lost several Masters in 2023 and 2024, and the championships were disrupted.

But now, I'm determined to bring Typing Zone back to life!

I've rolled up my sleeves and worked on several fronts:

migrated the source code from PHP 3 to PHP 8

converted character encoding from ASCII to UTF-8

upgraded the site to https://

fixed the chat (the scrolling wasn't working)

migrated the old phpBB2 forum to phpBB3.

The big news today is especially the revival of the forum!

The old forum was overwhelmed by spam and had to be disabled, but with the latest version (phpBB3), we now have much more advanced anti-spam features. Come check it out and help bring our community back to life!

I hope to see many of you back on the forum, and to revive the spirit of the site, the championship, and its Masters—who had their golden years thanks to legends like Sean WRONA, Andrea AKHLAGHI FARSI, Guilherme SANDRINI, Andrei CRISTESCU, Karen KOULAKIAN…
